I'd like to introduce you to...

...Fisz :)

1. Who?

You either hate or love his music.
Aged 31. Fisz (also known as Bartek Waglewski) is one of the few Polish artists that I truly admire. Being a son of a well-known Polish musician Wojciech Waglewski, he has been acquainted with the love for music since early childhood. He started his career in 2000. Many people say that his first album has indivertibly changed Polish music. I absolutely agree! ;) If you would like to see more of his photos and enjoy one of his songs, please have a look at this video :)

2. What?

Fisz's first album was a pure hip-hop CD. However, the more music he made the less of a hip-hop type it was. If one would attempt to put his music into a particular category, it would be impossible. His albums are experimental, he loves to explore sounds and melodies.
Fisz and his producer Emade (Emade is his brother) seek inspiration in black music giving soul, funk and jazz touch to their projects. His lyrics are often based on wordplay. Fisz's lyrics are simple, honest and have a clear message. He touches upon ordinary, material things as well as more serious social issues. Each CD is totally different from the others. Yet, I adore all of them. ;)

3. Why?

He's a magnificent artist. I have no idea how to explain it in a more detailed way. There's something about his music that makes you wanna listen to it, that makes you relaxed and calm. So far, I haven't been disappointed with any of his albums - to me that's enough. ;) Besides, I really approve of the fact that he does what he feels like doing. He doesn't try to fit into any current needs at the Polish music market.

4. Any samples? ;)

This song is from quite a recent album that he recored together with his father and his brother. A pure family business ;P

And his brand new clip, from his most recent album...

5. More?

If you are at least a bit curious and wanna read something more about Fisz, check out his official web page
or his MySpace account.
You can also go and see him on 30th March, for he's going to perform on Juwenalia in Poznań. ;)

Take care,
Dżastina :)

The future is a convenient place for dreams

My life in 5 years time? That's a tough question... I must admit that I don't have that specific plans for my future. At least not all of them. So far I've learned that life is full of numerous surprises, you never know what's gonna happen to you. This is the reason why I avoid making too specific plans in advance.

Certainly, there are some issues I am sure of. I am almost sure that by this time I will have my MA finished and it obviously will be in English Philology. Since I want to be a teacher, I will probably work in a school, most likely in primary school, for I adore working with little children. I think I would also work in some private language school. After MA... Well, I will either do another degree or make a shy attempt to get in the School of Translation Interpreting and Languages.

I am also sure of who I want to spend my life with. I don't know where but I know with whom. :) Perhaps we will move together to another country and I will be studying another faculty in, e.g. Germany & teaching English to German kids. :D
Or Australia... Yeah, Australia is the place... ;)

Anyway, this is my, a bit too hazy, idea of me in 5 years time. Each day I wake up and have a new idea for my future... Sometimes I get lost in all of them and I'm afraid that I want to do too much. But, hey, we have to take risks, right? ;)))

I almost forgot about the most important! A cat. A beautiful Russian blue cat. Or maybe two... ;)

Ciao,
Dżastina :)

'Obama be thy name' ;)

I must admit I'm very pleased with the results of the US elections :) I can't explain why but from the moment I saw Barack Obama, I knew he would win. Perhaps this is his facial expression- honest and trustworthy. It is important to say that Obama is facing a great challenge right now. The whole nation is observing him and his actions. The people will surely remeber about given promises and Obama should prove his idea of 'change'. Thus, I would say that Obama is half-way to fulfill his success. The first half was winning the elections. The second would be not disappointing his supporters. Anyway, I do believe. I do believe that 'he can' and I keep my fingers crossed. ;)

Learning to teach :)

I came to KJO with a clearly specified aim- becoming an English teacher. To be honest, I am not quite sure when this idea originated. I assume it was more or less in high school that I became certain that this is what I wanna do.

During my teaching practice I didn't change my mind. Yet, I realized that being a teacher, a good teacher, involves plenty of preparation to the lessons. Many issues should be carefully considered, you never know how your students may react. Besides, you can NEVER plan a lesson and conduct it in exactly the same way as you would like it to look. :)

I am almost sure that I would like to teach in primary school. Such children seem the most honest in their attitude and the teacher can shape their perception of learning a language. Therefore, I really enjoyed my TP in primary school. Each class I taught was exceptional. In each class I found something worth remembering. I remember asking one class, shortly after the elections in the US, about the results. And the WHOLE class screamed: 'Taki murzyn został prezydentem!!!" :D

Take care and enjoy your TP,
Dżastina :)

Lil' Dżastina :)

Better late than never ;) My childhood memories... Childhood is a very special period in our life, I think most of us will agree with me :) Everyone adores coming back to those days and browse old, sometimes yellowing photographs. That's what I did, too. In my photo album I found plenty of photos I'm very fond of and it was hard for me to choose these I would like to share with you the most ;)

Since this task was connected with Christmas memories, I'll start with this photo. I'm 6 in it and it was taken in my kindergarten. I remember that Santa Claus arrived and gave all kids some sweets. We were wearing various costumes on that day and when Santa asked me what was mine costume, I proudly replied: 'I'm a LADY!' :D
(And, yes, I was blonde. Yes, I was wearing pink :D )

Another photo I like a lot was taken in my grandmother's garden. I enjoyed staying there a lot as I was sort of 'active baby' that had to be on the move all the time. There, I had plenty of space, fresh air and animals, which I still adore today. ( cute geese in this photo :P)

The next photo is one of the 'silly ones' :D As every little girl, I loved my Barbies. I perfectly remember the day that this photo was taken. I was following my brother all day and complaining: 'Oh, pleeeease... I want a photo with my Barbies!'. When he finally agreed, I was soooo excited :P (as my facial expression indicates :D)

As most of you know, I'm a cat lover ;) I loved those cute and tricky little creatures since I was a little plump and blonde girl :D This photo is one of my beloved ones. It evokes sentimental feelings concerning past days... :)

Finally, the last photo I'd like to share with you - little destroyer caught red-handed :D I remember I used to adore tampering with things that I found in the house. This was my mom's box with cutlery. I could spend hours on rearranging them etc :P As you can see, I was really concentrated on my job :)

Hope you had some fun :)
Ciao,
Dżastina :)

A Christmas Story :)

A Christmas Story

'Twas the night before Christmas--Old Santa was pissed.
He cussed out the elves and threw down his list.
Miserable little brats, ungrateful little jerks.
I have a good mind to scrap the whole works!

I've busted my ass for damn near a year,
Instead of "Thanks Santa"--what do I hear?
The old lady bitches cause I work late at night.
The elves want more money--The reindeer all fight.

Rudolph got drunk and goosed all the maids.
Donner is pregnant and Vixen has AIDS.

And just when I thought that things would get better
Those assholes from the IRS sent me a letter,
They say I owe taxes--if that ain't damn funny
Who the hell ever sent Santa Claus any money?

And the kids these days--they all are the pits
They want the impossible--Those mean little shits

I spent a whole year making wagons and sleds
Assembling dolls...Their arms, legs and heads
I made a ton of yo yo's--No request for them,
They want computers and robots...they think - I'm IBM!

Flying through the air...dodging the trees
Falling down chimneys and skinning my knees
I'm quitting this job there's just no enjoyment
I'll sit on my fat ass and draw unemployment.

There's no Christmas this year now you know the reason,
I found me a blonde. I'm going SOUTH for the season!
